Como Especialista en Enfermería en Cuidados Paliativos, tendrás competencias éticas, humanísticas científicas, tecnológicas y de gestión, para brindar cuidado a la persona que requiere atención paliativa, desde el diagnóstico hasta el final de vida, comprendiendo las dimensiones del ser humano en sus diferentes trayectorias y la relación con la familia y/o los cuidadores, aplicando modelos conceptuales y teorías del conocimiento de Enfermería, con visión interdisciplinaria.
Areas in which you can work:
- Outpatient and inpatient care: brindarás cuidados paliativos directos a pacientes a nivel intrahospitalario y en su hogar en cualquier etapa de su ciclo vital.
- Community: podrás acompañar a la comunidad, las familias y los individuos en temas de cuidados paliativos. Además de participar en procesos investigativos que involucren los cuidados paliativos en las comunidades.
- Independent professional: podrás brindar servicios profesionales de asesoría y consultoría en el campo de los cuidados paliativos.
- Administration and management: estarás en capacidad de liderar los cuidados paliativos en los diferentes niveles de atención en salud en el ámbito hospitalario y programas de salud comunitaria en los diferentes organismos públicos y privados.
Social contribution of the program
Thanks to UCM's comprehensive training and social approach, the Specialization in Health Administration has transformed and qualified the administrative processes of the sector. The program has delivered competent specialists to manage health services according to the needs of the environment, generating an impact on the provision of services in different regions of the country, framed in:
- A high percentage of students come from geographic areas of the country with socioeconomic, political and cultural difficulties: Arauca, Caquetá, Cauca, Nariño, Huila, Amazonas and Buenaventura (Valle del Cauca).
- Some students come from the country's progress corridors such as the Coffee Triangle and Valle, which makes the University visible in geographic areas that contribute to the solution of the population's needs.
- The program offers scholarships to health institutions with which there is a teaching and service agreement, as a strategy to contribute to increase the intellectual capital in the institutions of the sector.
- The students' training processes give rise to business initiatives, projects and intervention alternatives that contribute to the strengthening of the health sector.
- Impact of graduate performance: The competencies developed by the program are related to those promoted by PAHO/WHO for the improvement of institutional capacities of health systems.
